Staff Veterinarian, Mission Campus

Dr. Sheryl Owyang grew up in San Francisco and became a member of the SF SPCA veterinary team in 1994.  She graduated from UC Davis in 1993 and completed a one-year small animal internship at North Carolina State University.  Over the years, she has witnessed tremendous advancements in veterinary medicine that enable better medical care and improved quality of life for our animal patients. Dr. Owyang feels fortunate to be a part of the SF SPCA//s role in promoting animal welfare in the community.  She values the human-animal bond and is dedicated to providing compassionate and thorough care to both homeless animals and those whose owners have a permanent residence.  Her focus is general canine and feline wellness and medicine, soft tissue surgery, and abdominal ultrasound.

Dr. Owyang lives with her husband, Victor, their cat, Rocket, and their rescue greyhound, Megan.  Sheryl often walks Megan in the local dog park to socialize, or on a hike with friends and their dogs.  She has a special interest in wildlife conservation and loves to travel.
